The Christian Page

In this page I will be updating daily dose of christian contents, such as what i have learned and my personal reflection and understanding of each context.

The topic i want to discuss first is Love,
We have to define what love is in a biblical perspective, song of songs 2:7 says
New International Version (©1984)
Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.
New Living Translation (©2007)
Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right.
English Standard Version (©2001)
I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or the does of the field, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases.

This verse is telling us that we should not stir up, awaken or arouse love until the timing is right, there is a right timing for this. And we will answer this question in this topic

So what is love? this is a question that we all have answers yet still a mystery, if you ask anybody you know, everybody has an answer, but the question is, who is right?
one song says "love is a many-splendored thing" - frank sinatra

web definition of love is "a strong positive emotion of regard and affection"

a mid age guy says "When you love someone, you have their best interests in mind rather than your own. You expect nothing in return from them, and you love them unconditionally"

-just to prove you that everybody has a definition of love, i will be quoting kids that define love-

krissy 8 -"love is when you go out to eat, and and give somebody most of your french fries without making them give you any of theirs"

mark age 6 - "love is when mommy sees daddy in the toilet and doesn't think its grose"

karen age 7 - "when you love somebody your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you"

therry age 4 - "love is what make you smile when your tired"

everybody has a definition of love, even I have my own definition of love, but going back to the question, who is right? And I think everybody wants to know who has the right definition of love, lets go back to where it all began, looking at Genesis 1:1 "in the beginning, when God created the universe" - this means when everything does not yet exist God is there already, so right now we are going to look at the word of God and let his Word define love for us.

They say the greatest cravings and desire of a person is to love and to be loved. That is why we are looking for it in different places, we are looking for it in our neighbors, in the mall, in school, in work, in everywhere we go even in the internet.

I remember when I was in grade school, I was a normal kid, with a lot of friends and doesn't have any care in the world, i do the things i do, I go to school, I go home and play with my friends, I'm a normal person, until the time that I knew that somebody had a crush on me, and it felt good, it felt so good that I craved for it. That is the time that my life changed, I comb my hair, I used perfume for the first time, I walk differently now
even though I haven't seen the girl yet I was affected in a way. Its the same way for us now, if you don't know that somebody loves you, you're not going to be affected in anyway, but if you know that somebody loves you, that's when the transformation begins, so right now I want to let you know that God loves you!, yes you!!. looking in Jeremiah 31:3
New International Version (©1984)
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.
New Living Translation (©2007)
Long ago the LORD said to Israel: "I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.
English Standard Version (©2001)
the LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

Its a nice feeling that somebody faithfully loves you. You don't need to go to different places and look for love because somebody there loves you, He loves you because you're unique, don't feel empty and say that nobody loves you, because somebody already did even before you started living he already loved you looking in book of Jeremiah 1:5

New International Version (©1984)
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;
New Living Translation (©2007)
"I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart
English Standard Version (©2001)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you;

this tells us that, even before your mother and father even thought of making you, you were already loved by God. He made you unique, that is why our fingerprints our different, our eyes are different. We are unique in every way because God made you. different. Another verse says in Psalm 139:13

New International Version (©1984)
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
New Living Translation (©2007)
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb.
English Standard Version (©2001)
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

I think the least we could do to thank God for what He has done, is appreciate it. He made you just the way you are, He was the one who created you when you were still in your mother's womb, You are His masterpiece.

I like the sound of this book by John L. Mason its called "You are born an original, Don't die a Copy"
The thing about humans we are always looking for something that we don't have.  Some of us will say "If I could just be  ________." then I would be very glad to  _______. Fill in the blanks. For me as a person it would be this... "if i could just be rich, then i would be very glad to give money to the poor" this is me when i started being a christian, and as i walk and journey to the life of being a christian, God tells me what you believe in is wrong, It should be the other way around, "be very glad to give money to the poor, and you will be rich" this should be what you believe in, and there are a lot of verses that tells you this, its just that we don't have faith to actually do it, we are so worried about ourselves that even if we read or we already know the verse, we still is selectively following God.

Next thing that you should understand is, you are valuable to God, in genesis 1:26

New International Version (©1984)
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
New Living Translation (©2007)
Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground."
English Standard Version (©2001)
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

He created us in His own image and likeness, and He gave us authority to rule everything, if we are not valuable to God then He would not trust us with anything.  Lets look at it in a father and son/daughter perspective if you are a son or a daughter of very wealthy Man and he entrusted you with all of his money, how would you feel? You would feel that your important right? You have a value.

They say "value is determined by the price one is willing to pay" you want to know how valuable you are to God? Jesus died on the cross for you! That's how valuable you are, you're worth the life of a God not just a person but a God.

A word for the single ladies out there, you are the one setting up your value. If a guy will get you to kiss him because he paid lunch or dinner, then that's your value, if somebody took you out on a date and at the end of the date you gave him a kiss or you gave him more than a kiss, then that's your value, your worth is whatever it is he paid on that date if he paid 2000 pesos for that date then that's your price. If you set your value so cheap then you will be treated cheaply. But if a guy is willing to promise you in front of everybody and God that he will love you whatever happens then your priceless because it takes a covenant or a contract and a promise to God to have you. And surely The guy will value you. So question for you single ladies, are you cheap? I don't think so because you are valuable to God.

One more thing, Do you remember the scene from Jerry Maguire? Wherein tom cruise is about to say, "you complete me" as sweet as it sounds, tell you what, that is a lie, because nobody can complete you, its only God who can complete you no one else. In matthew 6:33 its says there

New International Version (©1984)
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
New Living Translation (©2007)
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
English Standard Version (©2001)
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

It says here seek first the kingdom of God and HE WILL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING. Yes he will be completing you, only God can do this for us.

Probably you also heard this or perhaps you already used this line, its a break-up line. "It's not you eh, It's me" this line as heartbreaking as it seem this is true. It's you, It could be you that has a problem, your not complete.

God, teaches us a different kind of love, its says in 1 john 4:8

New International Version (©1984)
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
New Living Translation (©2007)
But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
English Standard Version (©2001)
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Furthermore, a question to all, why do we love? 1 john 4:19

New International Version (©1984)
We love because he first loved us.
New Living Translation (©2007)
We love each other because he loved us first.
English Standard Version (©2001)
We love because he first loved us.

Seek the TRUE LOVE! and you will be complete!

I hope that the readers was enlightened and just a note, I'm not a pastor, I'm a normal person who seeks God and wants to share his goodness to all. If you have comments, suggestions, and violent reactions (I'm kinda expecting this.) feel free to comment below, and if you like this pls. share it with someone you know, you don't know who might need it. God bless!!
